https://phirecms.org/read.php?2,6,7#msg-7
It's hard to diagnose without direct access to the server, but if a 500 server error is being thrown, it would suggest that something isn't configured correctly on the server level or something might just need to be tweaked. The server software is Apache? Is it running PHP via Apache module or via CGI?
Maybe check the following:
- You said that your php.ini settings are correct as per the recommendations, but do you have the recommended PHP extensions installed? Perhaps it's trying to hit a function that isn't there and is throwing it out of whack (although that would probably show up as a fatal error in PHP and not a server error.)
- Whatever rewrite module you're using is installed and set up correctly. If it's mod_rewrite in Apache, maybe the .htaccess needs to be tweaked for your specific server set up? (I've had that happen before.)
- If it's PHP via CGI, sometimes some weird things happen if you don't have ExecCGI in the Options part of the vhost conf file.
Anyway, I hope that helped. Let me know if you make any headway, have any other clues, or need any other help.
Thanks,
